Flys

When I first started flats fishing I didn’t have a clue to what to use. I had read about the many patterns from crabs to shrimp. Everybody had their opinion and instructions. I spent lots of time changing flies and leaders trying to gain confidence. Finally I came up with my own design(s) which have their origin rooted in the traditional patterns yet are quite different.

  

ELECTRIC DREAD

The ELECTRIC DREAD is probably the #1 overall fly.  It has proven to be deadly on every single gamefish on the flats and has produced more than 1 Grand Slam. They can be purchased at the Flyshop of Miami, ask Dave or Jorge and they will get them to you. I have more faith in this fly than any other fly in the WORLD!!!

the results of this fly so far are outstanding…. I had multiple PERMIT hookups the very 1st week we used it and bonefish also love it…more fish will fall in the near future…final overall new design is in place with pictures coming soon….this is the new #1 PERMIT FLY for me and vital to my success and confidence

the Mighty Mighty Speed Dart

The SPEED DART is at times the go-to fly.  I use calf tail and tie very sparse on the hook at 45 degree angle and serves as a weedguard as well. The fly will drop straight to the bottom and is superior in deep water or windy days when speed is everything.  I have caught every fish except a permit on this fly but even that day is coming…

 

the Miami Vice(less) FROG

This is my new TOPWATER fly for the EVERGLADES and also for freshwater tarpon. Life-like action for the legs and indestructable. More fun than a barrel of monkeys…
